(KCPW News) House Minority Leader Ralph Becker says he and his colleagues in the State Legislature are out of touch with the public. He points to a lack of funding to reduce class size or create all-day kindergarten as examples of the disconnect during the last legislative session. The emphasis on tax cuts over funding for social programs as another example. He says polls and feedback from constituents statewide show the legislature acted contrary to the public's will on numerous issues.
Part of the problem, says Becker, is apathy among voters who don't take time to understand the candidates they choose. He also blames the consolidation of power within one political party on Capitol Hill for creating a quote "arrogance" and feeling of invincibility among lawmakers. Becker will discuss his views at a meeting of the Vest Pocket Coalition Wednesday morning at 7:30.
Couldn't have said it better myself.....
